NEWS: Blunt Rochester, Coons, McBride Celebrate Federal Investment in Early Childhood Education at DSU
Dover, Del. – Today, U.S. Senators Lisa Blunt Rochester and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative Sarah McBride (all D-Del.), joined Governor Matt Meyer, Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, former U.S. Senator Tom Carper, and Delaware State University President Dr. Tony Allen for the grand opening of the Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) and Early Childhood Lab School at Delaware State University. This project received approximately $15 million in federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act which was championed by Coons, Blunt Rochester, and Carper. Greenwood, Del. – Today, U.S. Senators Lisa Blunt Rochester and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative Sarah McBride (all D-Del.), joined Governor Matt Meyer and West End Neighborhood House to celebrate the opening of Life Lines South. Life Lines South is Delaware’s only supportive housing program in Sussex County for youth ages 18–23 who are homeless or exiting the foster care system, addressing a major regional need in Kent and Sussex Counties. Located in a former bed and breakfast, this facility will include 10 private units and on-site management for the benefit of the young adults it will serve. STATEMENT: Blunt Rochester Statement on Discriminatory Trump Travel Ban
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s discriminatory travel ban: “The last time the President tried to enforce his discriminatory travel ban, I was against it. Today, my feelings are the same. Our immigration system should be orderly and humane, and I’ve been vocal time and time again about the need for comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform that supports Border Patrol agents while also honoring our values as a nation. The President’s travel bans do nothing for the safety of American families. They will only continue to cause unnecessary fear and mass disruption. This executive order should be
